Sunwich Japan Tour 2025 (Part.2)

Sunwich Returns for Japan Tour: Bringing New Energy to the Land of the Rising Sun

Jakarta – Indie-pop band from Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Sunwich, has once again marked an impressive achievement on the international music stage. Closing out 2025, Sunwich is set to return to Japan after a successful tour earlier this year, which included a performance at the Music Lane Festival Okinawa and several shows across various cities.

That success has borne sweet fruit: Sunwich has officially secured a performance slot at the BiKN Festival held in the Shibuya area of Tokyo — a prestigious music festival that serves as a showcase for emerging bands with great potential. In this event, Sunwich becomes the sole representative from Indonesia, sharing the stage with notable names such as Otoboke Beaver (Japan), PAMI (Thailand), Haku (Japan), Boylife (USA), Nono (China), Lucid Express (Hong Kong), and Yel (South Korea).

Musical Journey and Album Release

Sunwich released their debut album, “Apophenia,” on February 23, 2024 under Demajors Records. The 10-track album marks a major milestone after five years of musical growth, following their mini-album Storage (2020) and several singles including The Bended Man (2022) and False Expectation (2023).

The release quickly caught the attention of renowned Japanese indie label Big Romantic Records. Through Terao Budha, the label’s owner, Sunwich received the opportunity to release Apophenia in vinyl format. A total of 400 vinyl copies were officially released in July 2024, reflecting an extraordinary response from the Japanese market.

Band Members’ Excitement Ahead of the Tour

Vocalist Aliefa Agustine (Fia) expressed her amazement at the opportunity. “We didn’t expect to return to Japan this soon. BiKN is one of the festivals we’ve aimed to play at from the beginning, so it feels truly wonderful to be invited,” she said.

Bassist Raflie “Ibek” Arbiantara added, “We’re really happy to be playing in Japan again. Hopefully we can reach new listeners and get the chance to collaborate with Japanese musicians.”

Meanwhile, drummer Rifki “Jibon” Handani emphasized that this will be Sunwich’s fifth time performing abroad. They previously performed at several international events, including F1 Singapore (2023), Monsoon Festival Hanoi, Vietnam (2023), Tabik! in Bangkok, Thailand (2023), Music Lane Okinawa, Japan (2025), and Ombak Festival Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Sunwich also appeared virtually at Rockin’ the Region – Esplanade Singapore (2021) and AXEAN Festival (2021).

Japan Tour Schedule

For this latest tour, Sunwich will perform four shows in Japan, covering Shibuya–Tokyo, Saitama, and Yokohama. Before taking the stage at the BiKN Festival, they are scheduled to open for Taiwanese band I’m Difficult’s tour and perform at a special gig in Yokohama.

Sunwich’s Japan tour is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. This initiative is part of MTN International Recognition, within the trajectory of the National Talent Management for Arts & Culture (MTN Seni Budaya), aimed at bringing Indonesian musical talent to the global stage. The tour is organized by SRM Bookings & Services. For merchandise, Sunwich is supported by SDY (Sun Eater Group) and Heyfolks!
