From screen to global stage: the transformation and journey of an Indonesian multidisciplinary artist.

Intan Ayu Purnama, known by her stage name Tanayu, is a multidisciplinary artist from Indonesia whose work spans music, performance, acting, and visual art. Her professional career began at the age of 16 as a television commercial model, later transitioning into film and television acting at 18. The world of acting became her first playground for exploring emotional expression and storytelling.

Behind the scenes, however, Intan nurtured a deeper calling — a personal and creative pull toward music. From this space, Tanayu was born: a musical alter ego that allows her to explore a more intuitive and boundaryless artistic realm. Her music fuses atmospheric electronic pop with traditional Indonesian textures, ritualistic elements, and narratives of womanhood.

Tanayu is not only a singer — she is a performance artist, crafting immersive, multidimensional experiences through sound, visuals, costuming, and cinematic concepts. Her work reflects a continuous journey of self-discovery, a fearless pursuit of originality, and a celebration of cultural identity through a contemporary lens.

As the project evolved, Tanayu expanded her reach to international audiences and stages. She has been invited to perform at several prestigious music events around the world, including:
• Japan, including cross-cultural collaborations with musicians from the Philippines and Okinawa
• Les Escales Festival (France) — one of Europe’s major music festivals, where she received a warm and enthusiastic international reception
• Monsoon Music Festival (Vietnam) — the largest music festival in the country
• Music tours in Singapore and Bangkok, introducing her work to Southeast Asian audiences
• A music festival in Seoul, South Korea, further building her artistic network across East Asia

In 2025, Tanayu embarks on her debut UK tour — a pivotal moment in her mission to represent the voice of modern Indonesia on the global stage. More than an expansion, this marks a bold statement: that the sound of today’s Indonesian woman — rich in spirit, grounded in heritage, and forward-thinking — belongs in the international conversation.

As Tanayu, Intan Ayu Purnama continues to explore the space between personal identity and global narrative — delivering art that inspires, connects, and resonates deeply from within.
